Selling items on Faljo is a great way to make some extra money - and have fun doing it! You can sell a few items that you no longer need, or build your own business.
Here are the basics of listing items for sale:
Selling Find an item you want to sell.
Do some research on Faljo to get an idea of your item's potential value and best category placement. Search for items similar to yours to find out what other seller's starting prices and categories were.
List your item.
Click Sell in the navigation bar at the top of any Faljo page. Faljo's Sell Your Item form will take you through the process of listing your item step-by-step.
Set your price.
You can set a starting price and allow buyers to place bids, offer a fixed price you'll accept using Buy It Now, or both.
Get paid!
When your listing ends, contact your winning buyer through email or by generating an Faljo invoice within three business days. Let your buyer know the total price of the item, including your stated shipping costs, and how they can pay you. Offering PayPal allows your buyer to pay you quickly and easily.
Ship the item.
After payment is received, send the item to the buyer's shipping address, specified with their payment or by email.
Leave feedback.
After your successful sale, leave feedback for your buyer, and ask that they do the same.
Bidding
A bid is a promise to purchase an item at the price you offer. If you have any questions about an item, please email the seller before placing your bid. You can email a seller by clicking on his/her username on the item's page.
When the auction has closed, the seller and high bidder will receive a notification message by email.
Instant Purchasing
Regular Instant Purchase - Bidding is not if effect. You are agreeing to buy the item at the listed price.
After the auction-Sell
The end of your listing may be a busy time for you as a seller.
As auctions close, the system will email notifications to the sellers of individual auctions. This notification will include all information necessary to close the sale. It will also indicate whether or not a reserve was met.
If your item sells successfully, there's a lot to do, from contacting your buyer to accepting payment to shipping the item. Please make every effort to make contact as soon as possible after the close of the auction, preferably within 3 days.
If you don't receive any successful bids or something goes wrong with your high bidder, you can use the many tools and options available to solve problems and keep trying to sell your item.
Contacting your buyer
When your listing is over, it's time to get in touch with your winning bidder or Buy It Now buyer. If you're using eInvoice, some or all of the information will be emailed to your buyer. If not, you'll need to email your buyer to exchange information. The buyer's email address will be provided in the email announcing the end of your listing.
Ask the buyer for:
The address they'd like the item shipped to
Tell the buyer:
Shipping cost
How you will ship the item to them
When to expect it
Which payment options you accept
The total price
Tax (if applicable)
What if my high bidder won't pay?
Non-Paying bidders face the following consequences through this program:
- First offense: warning
- Second offense: warning
- Third offense: Suspension of Auction Privileges
What to do if you're a seller with a non-paying bidder
Step Explanation Time Frame
1. Contact each other Contact each other after your listing has ended. Like you, buyers can have emergencies or computer problems. Your high bidder may not be able to respond to you right away for legitimate reasons. Generally within 5 business days is a good idea.
2. Payment Reminder Send a payment reminder email to your winning bidder. You can customize the email. After 5 days but not past 30 days of your listing's close.
What if I can't reach my winning buyer?
Like you, Buyers can have emergencies, illnesses, or computer problems. Check your Buyer's Feedback to see what other users have said. If there is mostly Positive Feedback with little or no mention of problems, be patient. Your buyer may not be able to respond to you right away for legitimate reasons.
If you get no responses through email, you can request your Buyer's phone number. A phone call may help facilitate the communication process.
After the auction-Buy
If you're new to buying on Faljo's, welcome! Thousands of items, from the practical to the peculiar, are waiting for you.
As auctions close, the system will email notifications to the sellers and high bidders of individual auctions. This notification will include all information necessary to close the sale. It will also indicate whether or not a reserve was met.
The bidder and the seller should contact each other to discuss payment and shipping. Please make every effort to make contact as soon as possible after the close of the auction, preferably within 3 days.
What if I won, but my Seller won't sell to me?
First, if the auction is a Reserve Price Auction and the Reserve is not met, the Seller is not obligated to sell the item to you.
If this is a listing without a Reserve Price or Seller exclusions (for example: Seller states they won't sell to buyers with Negative Feedback), the Seller is obligated to sell to you.
What if I can't reach my seller?
Like you, Sellers can have emergencies, illnesses, or computer problems. Check your Seller's Feedback to see what other users have said. If there is mostly Positive Feedback with little or no mention of problems, be patient. Your Seller may not be able to respond to you right away for legitimate reasons.
If you get no responses through email, you can request your Seller's phone number. After a reasonable amount of time, if you are still unable to contact the seller via email or phone, you can leave appropriate Feedback to alert other bidders about your experience.

General Search Tips
Try different search words
There are many words to describe any item. Imagine which words a seller might use for the item you're seeking. Try several different options and combinations?but use just two or three words at a time to be sure you get a variety of results.
Use specific words instead of general ones
For example, a search for Beatles poster will return fewer, more-targeted listings than a search for Beatles.
For a closer match, specify a date, color or brand
For example, to find a particular Barbie item, don't just type Barbie in the search box. If you're looking for a Barbie dress made in the 1960s, enter: Barbie dress 1960. If you want only red dresses, type: Barbie red dress. Remember: be specific and narrowly define your search!
Search titles and descriptions to get more matches
Search always looks for your keywords in the title of the items for sale. Click on search titles and descriptions under the search box on our "SmartSearch" form to also search item descriptions. You'll get many more results.
Don't use extra punctuation
Only use punctuation in your search if you expect it to be in the item title or description you're searching. Examples include t-shirt, N-Sync and Dr. Watson.
Consider browsing
If you're not searching for something specific, try browsing the category listing pages for surprising discoveries.
Categories
Browse through the categories on the left to get acquainted with our top-level categories. These categories also have subcategories that are more specific and will help buyers find your item more easily. You can choose a subcategory in the Category section of the Sell Your Item form.
Choose a Category - Help buyers find your item easily
Doing some research before you list your item can help you choose the most successful category for your item.
Try these tips:
Think creatively about your item. For example, maybe the item you first thought belonged in Bikes is better suited for Parts and Accessories.
Consider a number of possible categories. Search for items on Faljo's that are similar to yours and notice which categories they are listed in. Try several different keyword searches and see if you find particularly active categories.
Note: All items must be listed within relevant categories. Faljo's may move your listing if it's listed in a category that is unrelated to the item you are selling.
I'm having problems with Category Listings.
Peruse through the category selections to find the best category for your item. If you are still unsure about what category to choose try searching for similar items to see what other sellers have chosen as their categories. Make sure the category you choose is specific to your item. This will help potential bidders find your item.
I can't find the category I'm trying to list in.
The category lists can change from time to time. Either a category is moved or sometimes it's discontinued. If your category is no longer found in it's normal area, we suggest that you complete a search for other items, or the identical item you're selling. Once you have the search up, you can look through a few of the auctions and see what category those items are using.
